Think like a freak!

I’m reading the book “Think like a freak” which was written by Steven D. Levitt (professor of economics) & Stephen J Dubner (Journalist).

This book is based on statistical numbers and is delivered through inspiring and well written stories. It provides me as a reader with a sense of security as I know that it’s not made up by the authors.

Books like this really kickstarts my mind. I have a hard time putting it down and I haven’t had that feeling in a long time. It contains information which I’m craving for, it’s as simple as that. I think that everyone who likes to test the boundaries can benefit from a book like this.

I’m using it as a tool to go back in time. I’m trying to find the answers to my own shortcomings. I will bring up a couple of points that I feel are really resonating with me.

Stephen Dubner writes in this book that looking at other peoples mistakes can actually be more effective than trying to copy successful people. I find this very interesting and I get a feeling that there is gold hidden in this advice. I will take this with me in my journey here at Welcome to Insight. Maybe I’ll start by looking at my own mistakes?

There is also a whole section written about the value of quitting. Sometimes we do things without even thinking about the cost. This can be some dream that we’ve had for many years and that we just can’t seem to let go off.

For me personally this feels like the story of my life. When reading this I get a feeling that I’ve been self sabotaging myself by pursuing things that has been too far away from my natural talents. I also get a strong inclanation that I know in what areas I would have had a much better chance to succeed. The question which arises is : Have I been pursuing the impossible in fear of success?

This post might not bring you as a reader much value, but I know the book I’m speaking about will so my advice is for you to go out and get it.

I could ramble on about all the things that are going through my mind right now. But it would just be words without value. So I’ll stop for today… Go get the book!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Please leave a comment!
